Whether you own a Lounge or a Nightclub that,

Looks like this,

Or, like this,

Or, this,

You can turn your venue to full profit potential like this,

Important information for the Bar or Club owner who wants to enter the entertaiment scene and for seasoned owners as well. Reading time: approx. 3 min. If you'd like to check prices now, click on our logo on the upper left to go directly to our rates page.

Now that, hopefully, we have attracted your attention with our little graphical display just above; with a little imagination you can visualize people dancing, having fun, the lights chasing every which way, people laughing and having the time of their lives! This should be "happening" EVERY Friday or Saturday night at your bar, cocktail lounge or club. Karaoke nights are normally featured on Wednesday and/or Thursday nights for added revenues.

You should be having the time of your life too! your place is bustling with activity, your bartenders, barmaids and waitresses are kept busy and rushing all night, and your cash registers are overflowing! You get the picture.

If the above is your case, then you should stay the course and keep doing whatever it is that you are doing. But, if not, then you need to do something about it; this is where we come in.

It takes some money to make money, everybody knows that! But, to accomplish the degree of success that we painted with our little display shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg, after all, you already have an ongoing business and the means to project this achievement.

It takes dance floor space and (you already have that) whether small or large it makes no dramatic difference; an average dance floor is about 20 feet x 20 feet in dimensions. Smaller dance floors are common place with many businesses in the NYC, NJ or CT, Tri-state area.

You don't have to spend thousands of dollars in sound equipment, music, lighting/laser shows, special effects, trussing, salary plus some benefits to a professional DJ. (we already have that) plus professional MCs and the latest recordings (Billboard's & radio top rated weekly hits) Club owners are spared wasted electrical power because we run the light/laser shows at a controlled rate of electrical output. This is a life saver for club owners because electrical output is controlled at a specific rate.

Consider this, electronic equipment draws electric power, especially the lighting/laser equipment. Our light/laser shows are set on automatic switches. Your electrical consumption is kept at a minimum. You get full entertainment services for the time of the contract; we don't charge setup time or exit time (approx. one and a half hours). We get to your place early for the setup and we require about 45 min. after closing.

Don't kid yourself thinking that you can throw together some cheap equipment or bring your home stereo equipment, a few CDs plus a couple of black lights and create the kind of atmosphere to generate the profits that we are talking about.

Today's weekend crowds are sophisticated enough to know the difference between a tweeter and a woofer; more importantly they can detect excellent sound or poor quality sound. Don't be fooled either by people telling you about mega watts power, heavy magnet drivers and any number of speakers placed all over your walls. The truth is that the more you ad to a sound system without proper filtering equipment the more sound distortion it creates.

Fill small quarters with lots of sounds and I can guarantee you that it will be loud, but, you'll also need a "decoder" to understand the words. Like a balanced diet, everything needs to be in balance.

All of our music is played digitally over professional sound equipment. Our standard sound system incorporates the latest technology at a price you can afford and with an extended contract we'll work with you and help you design an advertising campaign. We can put together a package with,

"live band music"

Courtesy of "Merengada"

and "DJ Services" at an astonishingly low price. Or, DJ Services only for even lower costs without compromising on entertainment or sounds of excellent quality. Our DJ Services deliver unsurpassed "Live Performance" sounds and music performed by the original Artists and the original recordings.

Our equipment includes mixers, amplifiers, CD players, equalizers, crossovers, limiter, sonic maximizer, recorders, speaker systems, effects processors, karaoke systems, etc.

The additional electronic equipment clears and limits the sound. For example, a limiter is used to reduce and maintain uniform sound from original recordings. Not all recordings are made at the same range (radio stations use limiters). Sonic maximizers provide the clarity of sound to deliver recorded music that sounds like a "live performance". Phenolic horn drivers are used to stabilize the sound that comes out of the speakers. Its easier on the ears.

All DJs DO NOT use the same array of quality equipment. The problem is further compounded when more power than required is applied. Then, all hell breaks loose. There are different types of DJs according to their professional interests and the crowds in attendance. Have you ever been to an event where DJs demonstrate their beat-mixing or scratching abilities?

This? or, This?
Some DJs are called "performance DJs", or "competition DJs" Special skills are required to deliver this type of performance to specific markets or in "DJ battles", but, the weekend dancing crowd is not particularly looking for this type of sound delivery. Mega concert crowds, normally held outdoors, are sometimes looking for this type of performance, commonly known as the "trance" market. (generally delivering from 5000-10000 watts of power indoors to over 20,000 watts outdoors. Its not the type of sound that most dancers want to hear inside a place of limited dimensions. This is a true story. Quite a few years back and long before I became involved with this business I hired a DJ for a large private party at my home. This enthusiastic DJ kept increasing the volume of very powerful speakers and amplification equipment to a point where my guests started leaving the place. I was pleading and actually begging with the DJ to control the output to no avail. He later told me that he was accustomed to this type of output and couldn't change the way he played his music. (believe it or not, this DJ was my friend then, and still is my friend after 20 years) He then started his own band and gained international fame of the "gold and platinum kind", but, that's another story.

At another time, I hired a newly formed band to play live at a community event. They were good, really good, but, their sound equipment was a total disaster, so loud and distortioned that it made a mess out of things. People in attendance were saying that this band was terrible. To make a long story short, this band put their "electronic" act together and they continue to play professionally to this day. They are excellent (they've won a few awards) and they are making it big. Today, they are charging about $10,000.00 per gig! And another band I hired for another event never showed up! All true stories. Click here for poor reviews of the club scene in NYC

At any rate, if you want 5000 watts of power in a 2000 square feet room we can provided it to you after certain preparations, careful considerations and inspection of the place and surrounding areas, but we don't recommend it. It's your reputation as well as ours. We don't like customers leaving your place cursing the DJ, we lose business that way, and the bottom line is business; yours and ours.

We get your customers moving on the dance floor. Clubs need to get their customers dancing. We play the latest available sounds in 25 minute "sets". Each set reflects a particular style, genre of music or a mix styles depending on your venue and customers' desires (some customers require one style of music all night) with the sets separated by a couple of slower tunes that allows a little relaxation, flirting action and the transition to the next set.

We keep the crowd energized throughout the evening and ready to comeback with their friends. For years we have played New York clubs and the South Beach scene in Miami, Florida. Sample Reviews (from 2000 to present - shown here because some of the clubs are currently out business due to different reasons, among which, POOR or INADEQUATE SOUND) Click here for other reviews
Greatest Bar On Earth - "Mambo Baby?" - At Windows On The World. 1 World Trade Center, 107th Floor, Liberty Street (between Church & West Streets), NYC. 212-524-7000. Thursdays are latin nights with live bands. Sometimes very crowded with latin and wall street crowd. People dancing all kinds of ways, a few "On 2", but sometimes with little space to do it. Usually opens around 7:00 PM. $10 after 7:00 PM. Bands come on around 9:00 PM. For info on "Mambo Baby" latin nights, call the promoters Francisco Navarro and Frank Maldonado at 917-953-2368 or 917-506-2907. Here's what one of our fellow ON 2 salsero's wrote after a visit to the place during March 2000:
"Greatest Bar on Earth - "Mambo, Baby?" - Thursdays: They've raised their cover charge to $5, after 5pm, and to $15, after 6pm; and it still gets packed! Around 7pm, the unimpressive house music finally turns to salsa (with some merengue and cha cha). Between 8:30 and 9pm, the DJ reverts back to lackluster, house music (and some merengue). So, there's less than one-and-a-half hours of "Mambo, Baby?" before 9:00 pm, when the bands start. The bands play good salsa, but the DJ doesn't: his selection could improve, and he tends to crop off the beginnings and ends of the songs. But, by the time the bands play, there's little room to dance, and cigarette butts, napkins, and spilled drinks clutter the floor. Nevertheless, if you can wait out the long stretches of house music, and don't mind being bumped into while dancing, it's a pretty good time. Other notables: beautiful bar, terrazzo dance floor, expensive food, free coat check, and many New Jersey commuters, and some tourists."

El Flamingo - 547 West 21st Street (between 10th & 11th Avenues), NYC. 212-243-2121. Please Note: Always call this club shortly before going. They sometimes change their entertainment, open their doors many hours later than sheduled, or completely close, at the last minute. Call club to verify which nights are latin. About 50% salsa, plus merengue, hustle, house, etc. DJ sometimes manipulates salsa songs (disco style) by overlapping 2 songs at the same time, or repeating one measure or vocal line over and over; this throws off the count in the songs, and makes it impossible to stay on timing while dancing.
"Latin Saturdays" has several DJ's playing "salsa, merengue, house". They sometimes book name bands, which come on around 9:30 to 10:30 PM. Few if any ON 2 dancers. Mainly a younger, non-dancer crowd. For description of this club on his SalsaWeb.com/NY page - click here.

Jimmy's Bronx Cafe - 281 West Fordham Road (corner of Major Deagan Expressway), Bronx. 718-329-2000. Large latin restaurant and recently-built new club, very popular in the West Central Bronx and Upper Manhattan. Books name salsa and merengue bands on weekends, when DJ plays salsa, merengue, bachata and house, for a younger crowd. Very low percentage of salsa, and very few mambo dancers on the very crowded dance floor. Volume is very loud; speakers are distorting, sound echos throughout the huge club. I've been told that somewhat more salsa evenings are on Thursdays and Sundays, with a bit more mature crowd, but I'm not sure. I believe Thursdays has a dance lesson by Ralph & Lucille Lew. I have no info on the sound level on these other evenings. Warning: There have been reports that things are stolen from cars that are parked with Jimmy's Valet Parking attendants, so do not leave anything valuable in the car. Unfortunately, nearby street parking is very limited and of questionable safety.

Other clubs that have been getting (sometimes) slightly poor reviews for loud and distorted sound systems are, LATIN QUARTER, TONY'S OF WORTH STREET, FOXES AND IVY NIGHTCLUB, but, not nearly as bad as the ones just above.
